Jennifer Lopez In L’Wren Scott – “Live With Regis and Kelly”

  • Posted on May 20, 2012 at 10:01 am

Jennifer Lopez was spotted leaving ABC Studios in New York City yesterday where she appeared on “Live With Regis and Kelly.”

The American Idol judge wore a long sleeved L’Wren Scott Fall 2010 leather dress with a belt tied to the waist.

Jennifer styled her look with a feathered Ann Taylor clutch, Christian Louboutin ‘Lucifer Bow’ pumps and H.Stern jewels.

Black leather maybe a tad OTT for a morning show, but this is super diva Jennifer Lopez we are talking about. Only she can pull off a leather dress at 9 o’clock in the morning.

Celebrate The Super Moon With Stepan Sarpaneva’s Korona Moonshine

Sarpaneva Korona Moonshine

To celebrate the ‘super Moon’ – or for those who are more scientifically inclined swiss replica watches perigee moon – phenomenon that occurred this past weekend I thought it would be cool to take a closer look at another ‘super moon’ of sorts the Stepan Sarpaneva Korona Moonshine.

Bold Faced
The Moonshine is an unusual timepiece in more ways than one and is arguably the most distinctive in the Sarpaneva line-up. It’s also probably the most impractical too but hey that’s never stopped us before!

The defining feature is the over-sized moon-face that dominates 90% of the dial. An imposing sight to say the least this particular design aesthetic ensures that this is not a timepiece that will suit all tastes. Still it does provide an interesting talking point for those bold enough to wear one stainless steel band watches supplier not to mention greatly magnifying the effect of that mesmerizing stare!

Around the outer edge of the dial is an hour-ring most of which is largely hidden from view replica movado watches however there is a aperture cut-out from about 4 o’clock to 7 o’clock which provides a small viewing window. Interspersed between the hours are small stars another trademark of Sarpaneva’s. Minutes are not shown in any clear format and so really telling time via the Moonshine is more of a ‘guesstimate’. I did say at the outset that this was an impractical timepiece!

What’s really cool though is that Sarpaneva has still found a way to incorporate his trademark moon-phase complication. As you can see in the video below part of the hour ring has been coated in lume as the disc rotates around the dial the luminous section indicates the position of the moon. As far as I’m aware this is the only moon-phase complication to display this indication in such a manner.

The movement is a modified Soprod A10 calibre not unlike most of the pieces in the Sarpaneva collection. In this particular instance the mainplate has been modified to accommodate the unique moon-phase complication. As a finishing touch a smaller version of the infamous Sarpaneva unhappy moon face adorns the rotor.

The Moonshine is offered in a 42mm case in your choice of stainless steel or solid 18k red or white gold whilst the star of the show – the moon-face itself – is crafted from either oxidized sterling silver or 18K gold complete with black diamond coated skeletonized dial.

The Final Word
Not for the shrinking violets amongst us the Moonshine is a bold statement for the wrist aptly capturing the lunacy so often associated with a full moon. Whilst I probably couldn’t see myself wearing one personally I do find it attractive simply because it so unlike anything I have seen before. Don’t let the crazy eyes scare you off however as Sarpaneva is immensely talented and his growing collection of timepieces is definitely worth some more of your attention.

Dressed-Up De Pinto

  • Posted on at 5:42 pm

In the past few seasons, jewelry designer Arielle de Pinto has been refining the look of her crocheted metal accessories, reining in her experimental side to create pieces that are both avant-garde and easily wearable. For Fall, the designer took another step in that direction, churning out structural chain and brass necklaces, earrings, and cuffs, all with a newfound elegant sophistication.“I spent a lot of time in Toronto in the suburbs when I was making this collection,” says the designer, who splits her time between Montreal and New York. “I think that definitely influenced the collection,” she added, citing the building materials and the lichen-colored carpet in her parents’ condo as reference points. And while de Pinto jokes that suburban life isn’t for her, she translated her surroundings into cool, conceptual elements, like riveted brass tubing and brick motifs that bring shape to her organic steel threads. Crisscross scaffolding-inspired necklaces and bracelets are also an eye-pleasing interpretation of her unlikely influences. In addition to her Fall offerings, de Pinto has created a palladium-plated capsule collection, which features her favorite pieces from past seasons in charcoal. Victoria Justice dropped by ‘Extra’ on Monday at The Grove in LA to talk about her first big role, in the movie ‘Fun Size’, and talk about her upcoming music career.

The teen star wore a colourful pair of Rag & Bone printed jeans teamed with a simple white tee and a sky-blue ribbed cardigan.

Black platform sandals and silver jewels provided the finishing touches to her fresh, summery, fun look.

Narciso Rodriguez Spring 2010

  • Posted on May 16, 2012 at 8:12 pm

The Narciso Rodriguez Spring 2010 collection was a lot softer in comparison to his Fall 2009 urban warrior collection.

We saw optical prints, sleeveless tops, tulip shaped coats and cocktail dresses.

Many of the pieces had rounded hems which was an interesting twist. There was subtle layering and sleek silhouettes.

The colour palette consisted of mostly neutrals or black, with purple and silver included also.

My favourite pieces were the finale gowns which were very simple.

The tank-style gowns had a shorter hemline in front and a flowing back. When it caught the wind of the runway the dress billowed and moved so graciously.

Jessica Alba was the last celebrities to arrive at her seat and the photographers went wild.

How celebrities cope with those flash bulbs is beyond me.

She wore a bubble hemmed mini dress, with a black sequined top and a starry midnight sky skirt.

I’m not sure if they were expecting her to do something crazy but Courtney Love got the most flashbulbs.

Maybe the photographers just wanted to get a close up of the satin details on her Narciso Rodriguez black viscose dress.

Emmy Rossum looked really cute in her Fall 2009 halter dress, with an edgy army fatigue print on the bodice.

She was in the front row with her stylist and right in my eye line, so every now and then I would see her saying to her stylist “That’s cute”.

So we should expect to see Emmy wearing Narciso Rodriguez pieces in the future on the red carpet.

Rachel McAdams In Peter Som – ‘Journey 2: The Mysterious Island’ LA Premiere

  • Posted on at 3:12 pm

Rachel McAdams attended the ‘Journey 2: The Mysterious Island’ LA premiere last night at the Grauman’s Chinese Theatre which was turned into a tropical rainforest.

Sporting tousled beachy waves, the actress from ‘The Vow’ wore another look from the Peter Som Spring 2012 collection.

It’s a simple enough look which consisted of a sheer electric-blue knit tee with a vibrant blue floral-print maxi skirt with a thigh-high split.

Despite Rachel’s best efforts to wear a bra in the same colour as her top, the camera flashbulbs have made it more visible but I won’t hold that against her.

A blue snakeskin clutch and black Jimmy Choo ‘Anouk’ pumps completed her look.

Thankfully they aren’t too visible. The runway shoes would’ve been much preferred.

Reese Witherspoon In Louis Vuitton – ‘The Means War’ Rio de Janeiro Premiere

  • Posted on May 15, 2012 at 8:03 pm

Reese Witherspoon was in Brazil last night for the Rio de Janeiro premiere of her latest movie ‘This Means War’.

The star opted for her second Louis Vuitton Pre-Fall 2012 look of this promo tour.

On this occasion, she wore a lemon sleeveless dress with a tulip-shaped skirt plus Jimmy Choo ‘Greta’ sandals.

Despite seeing enough of those LV toe-cap pumps yesterday, it would have been an interesting change for Reese wear the models pumps, as she pretty much always wears a black shoe of some description on the red carpet.

A black belt and a statement necklace complete her look.

I’m not fond of the necklace: it seems a last minute choice. However, it does prevent this look from feeling too much like an office look, which can often be Reese’s signature look.

The Breslin Sets A Date

  • Posted on at 12:52 pm

The food blogs have been salivating over the impending opening of the Breslin, the new restaurant inside the Ace Hotel from the people behind New York’s most popular gastropub, the Spotted Pig. At last night’s party for The Private Lives of Pippa Lee, a little bird—OK, one of the wait staff—told us that they’ll begin serving dinner on the 23rd (it’s currently open for lunch). For more from the bash, including how Blake Lively feels about getting spanked, read on.
